chi-town part 1! big post... if you dont like it, kiss my @$$

Me and my girlfriend decided to take a trip to chicago in order ot see my favorite musician, Joe Satriani (best guitar player ever in my opinion)... chicago's house of blues was the closest venue he was playing at on his new album tour, plus ive been to chicago before and absolutely love it there...we left on tuesday night and had a nice 7 hour car ride. we arrived and stayed at the red roof inn.. .small rooms but it was cheap and got the job done....

the next day (wednesday) we woke up and went shopping along michigan ave which is where all the big brand name stores are.... i took advantage of this for some nice city picture-taking with my trusty cameraphone...

we also stopped in gold coast bentley in downtown and saw some nice cars including the first ever lamborghini murcielago ive ever seen... and the second... the red one was a roadster. they are all assholes there except for the front receptionist. they wouldnt let me take pictures but i snuck some anyways which explains the poor quality...

that night was the concert... we ended up waiting outside for a good half hour... the line stretched all the way down theside of the building, around the corner and then down another city block.

Eric Johnson was the opener for Satriani and he is an AMAZING guitar player as well. (download the song "Cliff of Dover")...

Satriani came out afterwards and did an INCREDIBLE show and played a lot of stuff from his new album and a lot of the old classics as well...

greasy balls

discount super bouncy balls!!! where you ask? old navy!! these baseball sized bouncy balls are only a quarter!! usually you see ones these size for a dollar outside of grocery stores and such. there is a catch to the old navy ones though... they have this wierd greay texture over them so i would advise you wash them off before induldging yourself in some bouncy fun.

adventure time!

ok so me and my girlfriend decided to go for a walk by some train tracks i had been wanting to explore... here are some pictures and details from the expedition.the first turn we took off the main road had this really old creepy ass house that looked abandonded and was about to fall over. as we drove around towards the back there looked to be some signs that people actually stayed there recently. i honestly dont know how people could live like this. this is the type of house you would see in a horror movie or something.

this was just a cool little rail cart that has been long forgotten. i thought it would make a cool picture

another cool picture of a barbwire fence post (just testing detail level on my camera)

as we were walking along the tracks, i saw some interesting buildings in the distance and as we got closer i recognized them as the renaissance festival!!!

we decided to take a little walk to the front gate to get a cool picture but the front gate was wiiiiiiiide open... needless to say we ventured inside and looked around. this place is CREEPY with no one at all in it. kind of like an old abandonded midevil town. the wind didnt even pic up in here. all of the shop fronts were open to the elements and most still had price tags as placeholdesr for when the festival actually comes back later this year. i guess they really dont need to dismantle anything. as we were walking through though we did encounter a dude with his daughter but i think they may have lived on the grounds because beind all of the shops we found a trailer home that looked like it was being lived in. there was lawn flamingos out front and a satellite dish and the front screen door was open. anyways heres the pics i got before we headed out...

even better!

ok my excitement for the salsa verde doritos has worn off due to the finding of these.... FIERY HABANERO!!!!! they arent as hot as they should be with a name like that but they do taste reallllllly good. they have a mix of habanero, chipotle and jalapeno spices on them and i highly reccommend them.

ouch

if you know me, you know that i LOVE spicy foods. if you dont know me, read through this journal and youll soon realize that i LOVE spicy foods. im not talking the average spicy which can be found at your local grocery store. not the "spicy" doritos, not the "hot salsa" from pace and not even the "911" (pathetic) chicken wings from hooters. im talking flamethrower hot hot hot! you see, peppers are rated on a scale called the scoville scale... a typical bell pepper rates at zero. jalapeno is at 2,500 to 5,000. the HOTTEST pepper on the list is the red savina habanero, ranking in at a hefty 350,000. (I dont care what you say, there is no pepper out there hotter than a habanero... no "custom hybrid", no "secret thai" pepper that was "just discovered" or whatever you may have heard. do your research!) The bottle of red powder you see below is produced by a guy named Blair. He makes some of the hottest hot sauces in the world, which contain pepper extract in order to make them even hotter. One of his famous sauces is called "Blairs mega death" and is on the scoville scale at 550,000 scoville units. this powder i obtained today is regular ground habanero (hot as hell already for most of you) but to top it off, the powder is sprayed directly with extract bringing it to the same level as the mega death sauce. see why it comes with the skull keychain and the warning on the label? ;)i tried a PINCH of this over a few spoonfulls of white rice today...... FUCK..... if after reading everything above you still dont get how insanely hot this stuff is, then i urge you to come sample it. it feels like a cross between someone stabbing your tongue with a million needles at once and then holding a crack-torch lighter to it. it doesnt go away with milk very easily either. in order to get the burning to be brought back down to something i could handle normally i had two full glasses of milk, a slice of cheese and i scraped my tongue off against my teeth for about ten minutes. it still hurt though.why do i do this you ask? well... its a rush. peppers cause your body to release endorphins which in turn cause you to feel good. i dont quite know how this works but its probly out there on the internet somewhere.
